My Favorite things of 2008...

So fellow blogger, Christy, made a post of her favorite things of 2008, so it got me thinking:) I had already been thinking of something on the same lines, but a little different so maybe I will incorporate the two. My thought before was things I learned in 2008! There has to be something i learned!!! So lets see:)

1.Starbucks-yup, this is an obvious favorite since probably 1995! My favorite drink of 2008 though and continues to be is a a vanilla soy earl grey tea misto...yummm:) they have some new tea latte's out. I tried the london fog, which is similar, but I find the tea to strong, its full leave or whatever they call it:) So i stick to my misto...its also half the price of the latte's!! That's my starbucks tip to anyone too. If you like latte's but want a cheaper option, get an americano misto, with whatever syrup you want! it tastes similar and half the cost!

2.CUBA- its hard to believe that it was almost a year ago that Dave and I jetted of to the Cuba! We had such a fantastic time there and is a trip we will never forget...oh how I wish I was somewhere warm right now!

3. Indian Food-Dave and I love indian food!! We don't go to restaurants a whole heck of a lot, but we do love our indian take out! our favorites are Kashmari chicken, butter chicken, and prawn curry...yummmy:)

4. Red wine-Its probably my most missed thing about pregnancy:) A warm glass of the red, makes the evening swell:) my favorite-Wolf blass Red label!

5. Pampered chef-Its my kitchen addiction. I think the first time I saw this stuff was at my friend, laura's, bridal shower. I have to say I am hooked! The things that are totally worth the really high prices are, the stoneware stuff, the chopper, their garlic press, and their cheese grater!

Ok, lets see if I can think of things non food related!!......
6. my Camera-For my birthday from my baby, I got a new camera! I have posted about it before, but its a lovely Cannon, that takes awesome pictures! its just so nice to have, and will be when our little one comes along!
7. Mama Mia-I got to see the musical for the second time this year, and the movie! i just love it!!
ok, so my mind is drawing a blank, I am sure there are many more things, but there are a few things that I have learned this past year that have really stuck with me.
1. Family is the most precious and most important thing in the world:) Before I met Dave I was more me focused, enjoying my friends, enjoying my lifestyle, trying and learning new things. These are things that are very important to me, but I have to say the importance and value of family has moved way up the scale for me. Now that might have a lot to do with the fact that my family has tripled in size since I got married, but my eyes have been opened to this, and it is such a blessing. Especially now starting my own family, it just brings it a whole other meaning!
2. The depth of love- I don't know if my love for Dave has necessarily grown this year I loved him quite a bit when I married him, but what I can say to describe it, and this stuck with me from the book the Shack, my knowledge for him has grown, and therfore my love for him has expanded. I never knew I could feel so connected, apart, lost without someone, until i got married. I truley does bring a new meaing to the word love, and a new appreciation for the love that God has given us as well.
3. Life is a constant learning curve. I did know this before, but with the uncertainty our world has brought us this year, I know get this more than ever. It is a great idea to have plans and dreams, but one must be flexible otherwise you will spend your life being let down.
4. Life is just getting started! I know I have talked to some people who after having gotten married and had kids they feel a little bit of a let down, like oh, I have accomplished all the big things in life. For me, I feel like life is just getting started! And I am so excited! I am excited to see my family grow, my dreams grow, my success grow, my maturity grow...hopefully not my thighs...but that's another story:)
5. life is really busy, don't forget to stop and smell the roses:) Meaning, have fun! i have to remind myself of this when I get caught up in the stress of the day! God has blessed us with so much and he is going to take care of us, so don't forget to enjoy this magical playground, called life he has given us...it really is so much fun:)

My Budha belly at 20 weeks:)

Friday...

This Friday is a big day for our little family:) We are heading to the doctors in the afternoon to get the results from our ultrasound...and...to hopefully find out the gender of this little monkey!!!
We can't wait. We are at peace either way...meaning if we can find out or not. It all depends if the baby was co operative during the ultrasound:)
Keep us in your prayers if you can as I do have some anxiousness over going. We are just believing that all is well, and it will be a really positive appointment! It is also the first one that Dave has come to with me, and I am excited for him to hear the baby's heart beat for the first time! such an amazing sound!

Its kind of amazing to think to that our baby will be born in such a monumental year! A year where the world is filled with so much hope:) the sad part about the whole thing is that hope wasn't lost before...Jesus has always been there, so lets just pray that he can use this man to remind the world of that very fact!

Just thought I would share....

So this is a little past tense but it just came to mind:) About a month ago we went to our friends place to celebrate a birthday! His birthday present from his wife was this fancy european cooking machine called a Raclette. Now mabye I am way out of touch with reality, but I am a city girl trying to live in the country, but it was the first I had seen of these things...and how cool are they! This is such a great entertaining meal idea. Basically there is a grill on top, and mini grills on the bottom. Everyone got their own little tray, and my girlfriend had different meats, cheeses and veggies to pile on. She put little potato's on top to cook. what you do is make your little meal creation on your little tray, and than heat it up, when its done you either put it on a peice of bread or some potato's and a way you go! I loved this because it was such a great social eating thing! Cuisinart makes one! And it will definitely be on our list of something to get for the future! Same with a nice fondue pot...yes its true, fruit and chocolate have been on my cravings list lately;) hey, at least I am getting the fruit in there!hehe

What Would You Pick??

So Dave and I went on a date the Other night which was such a nice treat. Hasn't happened much lately with how I have been feeling:) We headed out for dinner and a movie, courtesy of our stocking from mom and dad!

Anyways, while I dinner we were playing a little game..so I thought I would pass it along. Ok, its not really a game as a question. So this might not be a big deal but to us living out in cow town..it is. Ok, so get to the point, right? So the question is....If you could have any store, just a hop, skip and a jump away, what would it be? And what Restaurant??

Our answers..just in case you were curious..were for Dave. Best Buy(i know all you langley people might think this is lame, but remember where I live:)hehe), and for restaurants the Cheesecake Factory! We went to Seattle last January, and I got Dave hooked!
For me, I said I would want Target! Right in Chilliwack...woohoO! And for restaurants..well it was hard for me to choose one..but for chain restaurants I had to say Cactus Club...its my fav!!

Anyways..now your turn...very curious??????

New Beginings

So this year is going to be one of many changes for my little family:) Its growing by one, that's the most exciting part....but i know that's just going to be the begining. I have had a lot of learning curves this past year, and many bubbles burst. But on the other hand i have had new depths of love explored, new securities found, new levels of peace in the storms...ect.
I have a lot of dreams and plans for this year ahead, along with raising a baby. I know, I know, one step at a time:)
I was mentioning to a friend today that one thing that i have missed recently is being creative. Its always been a big part of my life, I am a dreamer, and with life, work, morning sickness, all day sickness, christmas, head colds, winter storms, I feel that side of me has been supressed. so my goal for 2009, to revive it! Now, i am not quite sure how this will look sleep deprived in June, but heck, I am a driven, goal orientated women...I can do it! And nobody burst my bubble please!
the thing about my creativity that i struggle with is that a lot of it is in my head. I am creative with ideas, and plans, but not so much in a hands on kind of way...and what i am learning, is that I am going to have to stretch myself in this area. so that is my plan! One of my bubbles that was burst this year, was the idea of moving. my hubby and I had this brilliant idea when we got married that we would buy our apartment, and in a year when the market went up again, and we were both making more money, we would sell and move into a townhouse. Well, eveything that we planned for, happened, except the market conditions. Now at the rate things are going, we will be lucky if we can sell in 3 or 4 years to break even:) So on to a new plan! When we first moved in i nested like crazy, we were newly weds, buying new things, and I wanted my home to feel like a home. And it did for a while, but than I kind of stopped. well, its time to start up again! There isn't a lot of things to be down, but there are little things I would like to do:) First things first, organize! Since I haven't been feeling well, that's taken a back burner, but I am ready to go, to make our little space liveable with the three of us in it! I am actually really excited to get on this and get going:)
One thing that I am really excited to do now, and to teach my kids, is how to be creative with money and stuff. I am actually really proud of dave and I for how we made our home look as good as it does on a small buck. I want to continue this:) So like I said, i know that this is going to take some hands on creativity! I am looking forward to this new stage in my life and to see where this journey takes me. I will keep you posted on my progress and let you know if its an idea that stays in my head...or one I can actually put into practice:)hehe
